The show “Alles Goed” will feature an interview with Françoise and Febe Hostens, one of her students that recently got accepted by the famous choir Scala.

March 28th: lecture of Françoise Vanhecke on the occasion of IPEM 50
March 25th to March 28th: the Gent conservatory organizes its “week of the contemporary music”. This events celebrates both 50 years of electronic music and the 50th anniversary of the IPEM.

On March 28th, there is an interesting lecture-recital, illuminating 50 years of existence of the IPEM. The recital takes place from 14h till 17.30h in the AULA, Voldersstraat 9, 9000 Gent.

Sense and Sentiment
Terwijl we in januari nog volop de 'krachten', aktief binnen het M&M robotorkest, bundelden, is het deze maand de beurt aan iets heel anders: Sense and Sentiment. Het mag dan een thema met een brede interpretatiemarge zijn, laat u zich echter niet misleiden: we maken er heus geen kitscherige special van, en het 'sentiment' waarvan sprake is zal u geprojekteerd zien door een strikt wetenschappelijke bril.
'Sense' staat immers ook voor zintuig, tastzin en gevoeligheid. En hoe kunnen we dit gegeven beter illustreren dan met de interaktieve fijngevoeligheid waar onze muziekrobots sedert jaar en dag een patent op hebben? Een flinke brok van het repertoire zal dan ook gewijd zijn aan Namuda, de vernieuwende fusie tussen technologie en moderne dans. Binnen dit concept is alles open, zicht- en tastbaar, en in die zin dus onmiskenbaar sensueel.
Met bijdragen van Françoise Vanhecke, Dominica Eyckmans, Moniek Darge, Sebastian Bradt en Kristof Lauwers. Artistieke leiding en robot design: Godfried-Willem Raes.

3rd European Clarinet Festival (18-20 January 2013)
During the 3rd European Clarinet Festival, Françoise will give a lecture performance with Duo Phoenix on 19 January 2013 from 15.45 to 16.15. More information on the program can be found on this link.
The performance by Duo Phoenix will take place in the Mengal Hall, Conservatory Ghent.

Their goal is to perform their impressive repertoire from the 20th and 21st century, to improvise and to interact with other musicians and art forms in an expressive communication with the public. The mixture of timbres of the vocal artist Françoise Vanhecke and reed player Stephan Vermeersch is a superb expressive combination. The program is eye-catching as well. A real Klondike for artists searching for new experiences.

In light of my research, the following lectures will take place in 2013.
January
During the European Clarinet Festival (which will take place in Ghent, Belgium, from January 17-19), I will do a Lecture-Performance on January 19: "Extended vocal techniques related to the 20th and 21st century repertoire for clarinet and voice."

She performs and gives masterclasses around the world. Together they soundscape and perform internationally. They appeared recently at the Issue Project Room with Alison Knowles and Annea Lockwood.

3rd Cracking Bamboo Festival
From 29 September to 11 October, Françoise Vanhecke is invited as a Singer and Artistic Tutor at the CRACKING BAMBOO 2012!
CRACKING BAMBOO will take place in 2012 for the third time and it will again be one of the most colourful and inspiring projects in the world of music. Thanks to the support by the Goethe Institute, 35 musicians will meet in Bangkok to work out a new program, which we present in Bangkok, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
The project provides the opportunity to work with musicians from fifteen different countries and to exchange professional experiences. Participants are coming from Thailand, Vietnam, The Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Germany, Belgium, Norway, England,Canada, Japan, Korea, Mongolia and Senegal.

Dordt in Stoom (June 2)
Another performance is coming up. Alongside the 'Pierrot Lunaire' (Schönberg) show on June 3 in Bruges (in which Françoise will not only perform, but direct as well), there is a show in The Netherlands on June 2 on the occasion of the "Dordt in Stoom" happening in Dordrecht.
The ships in the 'Wolwevershaven' and the steam engines on the 'Kuipershaven' will be illuminated by hundreds of little lights on Saturday evening. Around 21.30, a canon will be fired and the 'Damiatebrug' over the port will open. While sailing in a small boat, Françoise will sing the 'Ave Maria' by Gounod. The 'Wolwevershaven' is definitely worth a small visit on that night, so you can fully enjoy this fairylike spectacle of Steam & Light.

There are free buses available from each of those parking sites that will bring you straight into the heart of the happening. Performance in London
Next Tuesday, on May 22, at 5:30 PM, Françoise will perform at The Belgian Salons at the Belgian Embassy in London (36 Belgrave Square, Belgravia, London SW1X 8QB).
On the occasion of the Lecture on Schönenberg by Wim Oers, DPhil-Candidate in History, University of Oxford - Oriel College, there is a musical intermezzo by soprano Françoise Vanhecke, Soprano, Professor of Singing, PhdCandidate of Arts (Music), UGent.
She will perform 'Russian Landscape for Françoise', for Soprano and Tape (with extended techniques) by Marina Shmotova, and Romance Romana (pianosolo) by Irma Bilbao.

Leerlingen van de drie academies voeren een selectie uit deze 'nieuwe' Souterliedekens uit en stelden elk een programma samen van 20’.

O.a. het werk 'Psalm 17' van Irma Bilbao werd geselecteerd voor deze 3 uitvoeringen, door : Het zangduo en fagot van dé Academie Ieper. Psalm 22 en psalm 23 door het koor Discantus van het Stedelijk Conservatorium Brugge

Nieuwe Souterliedekens
Naar aanleiding van de 500e verjaardag van Clemens non Papa vroegen de Stedelijke Academie voor Muziek en Woord Clemens non Papa Diksmuide, dé Academie Ieper, afdeling muziek woord en het Stedelijk Conservatorium Brugge 53 componisten om diens Souterliedekens te hercomponeren. Leerlingen van de drie academies voeren een selectie uit deze 'nieuwe' Souterliedekens uit en stelden elk een programma samen van 20’.
